How the community side works

Profiles and follows

A profile is where the people we learn from keep their side of the community alive — updates, videos, and the shows they are running. Following one is how you get their news without hunting for it: their posts land on your parent dashboard, and a reminder arrives the day before their event.

Kinds of profile

Who has one

Three kinds of profile, one shape

They are laid out the same way and behave the same way, so following anyone in the community means the same thing: their posts reach your dashboard, and their events remind you the day before.

  • Light Weaver

A practitioner in the Luminous network — the guides who run our circles and programmes.

They post updates and their own workshops, circles and gatherings, which appear on the events hub after our team reviews them.

  • Invited creator

An independent maker we have invited to share their work with our community.

They post updates and YouTube or Vimeo videos, and list their own live shows. An invitation is a publishing lane, not an endorsement.

  • Partner organisation

A school, studio or group running programmes alongside the academy.

Their listings appear for discovery and linking; parents can follow the organisation for its upcoming dates.

On a profile

What an author can post

  • An update

A few paragraphs to the people who follow them — what they are working on, what changed, what is coming.

  • A video

A YouTube or Vimeo link, embedded on their profile so it plays there rather than sending you away.

  • An event

Their own workshop, circle or live show, with a date. Every one is reviewed before it goes on the public events hub.

Members can reply underneath a post. Discussions are visible to everyone in the community, which is why the standards below apply to comments as well as to posts.

Following

Exactly how something reaches you

  1. 1

    The author publishes

Their post appears on their profile and in the community feed. An academy reviewer approves events and creator posts before they go public.

  2. 2

    Followers are resolved

Only the parent accounts that follow that author are included. Nobody is added to an audience for someone they never followed.

  3. 3

It lands in the dashboard inbox

Each follower gets a message in their Luminous Mind inbox, from the author's name.

  4. 4

    And in their email

A copy is sent from a Luminous Mind address, with the author's name on it and a note that the views are theirs. Unsubscribe takes them out of every author's reach at once.

  5. 5

    Events get a day-before reminder

The reminder is queued automatically for the day before the show, at the time the event was scheduled. If the date moves, the reminder moves with it; if the show is cancelled, it stops.

Mail always comes from a Luminous Mind address — that is how we keep it checkable — but it carries the author’s name, and the line about whose views it is comes with it.

Non-negotiable

The standards a broadcast is held to

  • Posts, events, and reminders carry the author's own views. We publish them so the community can discover their work, but we do not edit or endorse what they say.
  • What is pushed out to followers stays appropriate for members under 18, and substances — alcohol, vaping, drugs — are not promoted in posts, events or reminders.
  • An author's messages link only to their own profile or one of their own upcoming events. Outside links are never sent to followers.

In your hands

Controls that exist on every post

Flag

Any signed-in member can flag a comment they think breaks the standards. Flagged items go to our team, not back to the author.

Hide

The author of a post and our staff can hide a comment under it. Hidden comments stop showing to everyone but stay in the record.

Block

A parent can block a member from messaging them, and can unfollow an author at any time — which instantly removes them from that author's audience.

Questions

Asked often

Does following an author mean Luminous Mind endorses them?
No. A profile is a publishing lane. Posts, events and reminders carry the author's own views — we publish them so the community can discover their work, but we do not edit or endorse what they say.
What links can an author send followers to?
Only two: their own profile, or one of their own upcoming events on Luminous Mind. If an author types an outside link into a post, what you receive still goes to their profile or event page. Their event page may carry their own ticket or RSVP link for you to click there.
How often will I get email from an author I follow?
Only when they publish something with notifications on, and once more the day before any event they have scheduled. You can unfollow at any time, or unsubscribe from all author emails in one click.
Is the content appropriate for children?
Everything pushed out to followers is held to a standard suitable for members under 18, and promoting substances — alcohol, vaping or drugs — is not permitted in posts, events or reminders. Individual profile items may be labelled 21+ and are hidden from youth accounts.
Who can see and reply to a post?
Posts are public so a profile can be discovered. Commenting needs a signed-in member account, and the author or our team can hide a comment that breaks the community standards.
